Supermarkets
There are 4 located on the main road, starting with Aldi, then Eroski, Supersol and Mercadona. Also on the El Faro behind the Light of India restaurant, you find Russell’s English grocery store.

Dotted around Torrox Costa are plenty of bars and restaurant catering for many international cuisines.

Hotel Rui Ferrara
Newly built luxury 4 star hotel with varied Daytime and evening entertainment, child friendly with a kids entertainer. Indoor & outdoor pool, in the winter the indoor pools is open and heated. Promenade
promtorrox.jpg (25198 bytes)Pedestrian walkway on the sea front, with an array of bars and international restaurants. At the beginning of the promenade is an exercise areas for the public with machines to tone up your body, this is situated near the El Faro Lighthouse.

Roman Ruins
el-faro.jpg (23738 bytes)Excavated Various groups of settlers and invaders arrived in Spain from around Europe including the Phoenicians around 900BC followed by the Greeks and Celts but the first group to really leave its mark on the Axarquia was the Romans. Having taken over in 200BC they remained in charge for about 700 years bringing their own brand of civilization to the country. The best Roman remains can be found in Almuñécar, however archeologist have uncovered more remains in the region of Torrox Costa where the Necropolis or cemetery is well presented to the public beneath a transparent viewing platform adjacent to the lighthouse at the end of Avda. del Faro. There’s also remains of a Fish Factory where fish was salted and turned into a fish sauce for seasoning food, this was a favourite condiment for the Romans known as garum and was highly prized not only for it’s flavour but medicinal properties too.

Chemists
Follow the service road behind the bus station, the chemist is on the left hand side of the road. However there is a 24hr chemist in El Morche on the roundabout with some English speaking staff.

Post Office/post box
The post office is located on the main road between Supersol and Mercadona supermarkets. If you just want to post a postcard back to family, stamps for England (Sello (pronounced seyo) para Inglaterra) can be purchased at any tobacconist. The post box is situated on Avenida del Faro on the cross road, the colour is yellow.

Tourist information
Speaking Spanish, English and German located behind the El Chicle Restaurant next to the launderette.

Paper shop
Opposite Supersol on the service road next to the bakery, supplying daily news papers in English.

Nearest golf Course

This is an even course with 18 holes, characterized by its wide greens with many movements and the great variety of obstacles which offer a big range of strokes and an ideal design for all types of handicap.

Nearest Shopping Centre
Velez Malaga opposite the water park, shops include Dunes, Oasis, Zara and many more. At the top entrance is the bed shop with English speaking staff, further down on the opposite side is an English book shop.
