East of Malaga on this particular stretch of the Costa del Sol,
there are endless choices of great restaurants, from Spanish, Italian,
German, English, Chinese or Indian. Whether
you're stay in Nerja or Torrox Costa finding a good place to eat
isn't hard.

Bar
Portobello
There are also typical Spanish
tapa's bars, serving a selection of
tasty bite size appetizers from refrigerated displays on the bar.
 One
of my favorites is the Bar Portobello in Torrox Costa run by Shirley and
Mike. Their tapas & drinks are excellent value for money. The bar is situated behind El Chicle Restaurant, walk towards the launderette
on the
corner and follow the path down  between
the gardens heading towards the sea. This bar offers good size freshly
cooked tapas for 1 euros each, they have two food displays with plenty
of choice. Outside is a petty terrace, and for the winter
all the sides are closed and a heater keeps it nice and cozy. Open
Sunday to Friday from 11am until late, tapas until 8.30pm.
Every Wednesday from 6pm enjoy the meat raffle, tickets can be

Mike and Shirley celebrated their 3rd year at Bar Portobello on
1st May 2008, the theme was gangsters and molls. What a great night! I
have selected a few photos from the evening celebrations.
The
Bull (El Toro)
Offering an all day menu from 11am until 9pm, they do a great English
breakfast or what about a lovely dinner with mouth watering homemade deserts. Run by
Dave and Avril, come and have a drink at the bar (open until late) and
enjoy the hospitable atmosphere. Every Wednesday evening from 9.30pm
is a free quiz, if you're in the quiz you can purchase a raffle ticket
for a shot at the prize money. Enjoy live music every Friday night
around 9.00 p.m. Situated off Avenida el Faro, walk
between the banco La Caixa and the bathroom showroom on the left and take your
first right then you'll seen the bar.
The
Rib House
The Rib House is another popular place, not only for food! The last
Saturday in each month is the host for a great quiz including supper,
the price is 8.00 euros per head however I would recommend when
reserving a table check the price. If you fancy a bit of bingo why not
join us every Wednesday afternoon starting a 3-00 pm, please get
there early in order to purchase your tickets and find a seat. To find
the restaurant on foot, stand in front of Eroski supermarket on the main road,
look to the other side towards the service road you will see a bank on the left hand corner, on the right hand side head behind the
block to find the restaurant.
El Figon
The village of Torrox is approx. 5 mins. drive inland from Torrox
Costa. Try the restaurant El Figon run by Shelly and Fernando,
excellent food in lovely surroundings. In the summer make use of
the pretty court yard with waterfall. Situated below the main plaza on
the main road through near to El Dorado bar, this is only a door from the front so you'll
have to look out for it. The
restaurant offers a delicious pork knuckle or chicken with blue cheese
and wine sauce plus many more mouth watering dishes. The restaurant is
close for 3 months in the winter, but opens March until November, 7.00
p.m. until 11.00 p.m. from Tuesday until Sunday.
Mesón de Antonio
In Nerja, restaurant Mesón de Antonio situated in Calle Diputació,
nº 18. Excellent steaks and lamb
chops plus many more dishes, warm and friendly atmosphere. To avoid disappointment a
reservation is recommended as this is a very busy restaurant.
The
Curry House
Located near to the Hotel Monica on Avenida Mediterraneo. Reasonably
priced excellent curries, the spices and flavours will certainly get
your taste buds tingling. Plenty of choice and a friendly service,
well worth a visit.
